mandarin excellence programme
All Students at Wapping High School study Spanish from year 7. They can also opt to study Chinese Mandarin as an additional language from year 7 up to GCSE. This is an extraordinary opportunity which has been funded by the Department For Education in schools that are lucky enough to have been selected as pilot schools.
Ms Wong, our Chinese Mandarin teacher, is a native speaker and holds both a degree and an MBA. Having trained as a teacher in the UK she is passionate about making the learning of Mandarin accessible to all and she is excited about supporting young people in becoming global citizens.
Our school is funded by MEP (Mandarin Excellence Programme) which gives a fantastic opportunity to our GCSE students to go to China where they benefit from a unique intensive language programme in Mandarin.
