A warm welcome from Wapping High School
Welcome to Wapping High School where children experience something exceptional; a new vision of future learning maximising student achievement.
Excellent GCSE results have again been achieved by Wapping High’s Year 11 students this summer. The performance of students in English and Mathematics was particularly impressive with over half the year group achieving strong level 5 passes in Maths and 25% of all Year 11 students achieving coveted level 7 and above grades in Maths which we are all delighted about.
English again performed well and GCSE results are again in line with the highest performing schools in Tower Hamlets.
Strong performances in Art, Modern Foreign Languages and Sport have also added to the overall performance this year and the school’s congratulations go to the dedicated staff and students who’ve worked so incredibly hard to achieve this.
At EBacc, where English and Maths performance data is combined with Science, a language e.g. French and a Humanity subject including History, Geography or Sociology, the school has seen strong improvement with the EBacc average points score per pupil significantly outscoring national averages for all English schools.
Finally, we are particularly delighted that a full 18%, nearly 1 fifth, of our Year 11 students achieved a grade 9 in at least one subject. A huge well done to all!
85% of pupils achieving Grade 4 and above in English
73% of Students Achieved a 5+ English
EBacc achieved by 21% of our students
Headteacher Gary Nelson commented: ‘I am delighted by these results. It is particularly pleasing to see the high percentage of our students achieving grade 4+ in English.
All new Year 7 students are encouraged to enrol in the Chromebook Purchase Program. In partnership with Freedomtech we have negotiated a competitive program to place a Chromebook in the hand of every child.
